Jared Falk Biography
Jared Falk was born in Abbotsford, BC, Canada and has been playing drums since the age of 15. Once a shy kid, Jared first played drums for the church praise team and has been playing with a number of bands till date. Jared not only plays in a band but also helps the upcoming drummers and makes his lessons very easy to understand.
Ron Janzen who played for The Doxa Band was his first teacher. Ron conducted classes once a week and Jared was his first and only student. Technically Ron wasn’t trained, but he helped and motivated Jared to do well on drums. Brad Naylor was his next teacher who introduced a complete change to Jared’s drumming lessons. Brad was remarkably perfect when it came to drumming and this gave Jared an experience like never before.
Jared has been taking lessons from number of teachers on the various methods and techniques of playing drums. However, Jared’s perspective completely changed when he met Lionel Duperron. Lionel revised all the techniques and methods learnt by Jared. He taught him the famous Moeller Method and improved his drumming skills. It was after this that Jared was offered to join The Doxa Band, the band that gave him his first teacher Ron Janzen.
When Jared was on a vacation in Osoyoos, BC, he received a call from The Doxa Band asking him to perform with them on a Sunday. Up until then, Jared had performed only in church on Sunday morning and managed to have some jamming sessions with his friends. Before the performance he had one practice session with the band and then went on to perform. This being Jared’s first big performance, he was very nervous.
After playing for four years in The Doxa Band, Jared paired up with the solo artist Riley Armstrong. Jared toured with Riley for almost six months performing continuously. When he was asked to do another tour he declined, as he wanted to spend some time on his own. After the tour, Jared took a break and took up a sales job, where he was selling ducks and geese into Chinatown, Vancouver.
Lionel still kept on sending a bunch of students to Jared to learn drums. Lionel himself had taken a break from teaching and could manage to send a lot of students. Jared had 30 students coming to him in a week. He not only developed his skills as a drummer, but also taught his students in a simplified manner. His teaching made him better on his own drumming skills.
Soon after that Jared met Rick Kettner who wanted some spot lessons. Rick Kettner was very good with foot technique and played the Heel-Toe-Technique brilliantly, without much effort. Rick was teaching online and had posted his video on the web for better understanding. However, with the huge cost of bandwidth he had to pull down his video. It was after this that Jared and Rick decided to promote and sell the drum instructional products.
Three years after that Jared and Rick started a company in Abbotsford, BC. Their company named Railroad Media Inc. came up with 5 drum DVDs and they have marketed few other products. However, their main focus is on the drum instruction. Their recent and the top sold product is the Rock Drumming System, which is produced by Rick Kettner and hosted by Jared Falk. It has all the lessons - from beginners to the advanced level.
Their first instructional DVD featured “The One Handed Drum Roll.” After that Jared came out with “Bass Drums Secrets” which taught the Heel Toe technique. Jared has also worked with Mike Michalkow and produced and filmed the “Moeller Method Secrets, Jazz Drumming System, and Latin Drumming System.” Jared is making an extra effort to come up with various DVDs to help the upcoming drummers and still continues to give private lessons.
Jared Falk is currently playing with a Christian band called Blue Rain. Jared tours three to four times in a year with Perry Springman who started Perry and the Poor Boys. Both Jared and Perry tour and perform for a noble cause, which helps the needy and gets a smile on their face. Jared feels satisfied when he plays to help a child in distress.
Jared has proved to be an excellent drummer and a drum instructor. He still plays in a number of bands and reaches his fans with good music.
